This Pizzeria In Florida Is Serving Up An Invasive Species On Its New Pizza
It's no secret that Florida has a problem with pythons. The invasive species is currently locked in a battle with local alligator populations for predatory dominance. While authorities struggle with a solution to their python problem, one local business is taking steps to both raise awareness and cut down on the python population.
Wait until you see how he proposes to do it.
Meet Evan Daniell, the owner of Evan's Neighborhood Pizza in Fort Myers.
To get the python meat just right, Daniell marinates it for several hours and cooks it a bit before putting it on the pizza. Apparently, it tastes like chicken.
The price tag for an Everglades Pizza is a steep $45, but that isn't stopping customers from indulging. According to its creator, it has "gone viral."
Watch Daniell prepare a pie and explain the origins of his famous Everglades Pizza.
(via: Roadtrippers)I'm not sure whether I should be hungry or grossed out. I suppose there's nothing wrong with python meat, but I'm still gagging a little bit just thinking about it. That being said, serving up an invasive species on pizza is the most inventive population control tactic I've ever heard of.
